Women and Gender Affairs

The Gender Affairs Department was created in October 2020 from the Erstwhile women and Gender Aairs Department following the Approval by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, based on request from the Ministry on the 23rd of July 2020. The Department is currently headed by a substantive Director, Mrs. Friya Kimde Bulus.

The Gender Affairs Department is charged with the responsibilities of promoting Gender Advancement and coordinating the sustenance of a gender equality perspective in the plans, project and programmes of the Federal Government, to meet the targets of the National Gender Policy. The Department coordinates interventions for the prevention, response and tracking of the gender mainstreaming at all levels of government.
